Back in 1961, Steve Russell was a leader of a team of programmers who were working on the first ever video game. It was called Spacewar, and it is a quite simple game in which you are in a spaceship and the only goal is to destroy as many enemies as possible. You have probably seen a game similar to this one and it looks like an ATM. You have to stand in front of it and use a joystick in order to play the game. There are also a couple of buttons for controlling the game as well.
The fact is that not many people were actually playing this game at all since that was a long time ago and not only that but the computers were not available at all, as you know. In order to play this game, you would have to have a DEC PDP-1 computer. Space Invaders was also one of the most successful games of all time, and the fact that the graphics was more than simple didn’t change anything. Many people love to play this game and there are many of them who are still playing it on their modern PCs.
In the 80’s the arcade video games especially in the bars and pubs where you could find this sort of games, and it was interesting that these games were not free at all but you had to pay a certain amount of money in order to play a game, which is not the case today. One of the companies that was dominating in this world of games was definitely Atari. Nintendo GameBoy became popular in the 90’s and that is when the real revolution of video games really happened and that is the period in which everyone started showing interest in playing video games.
There were 3D graphics which were more fun to watch and play and at the same time something else changed which is among the most important aspects of playing video games on the internet – massive multiplayer online. That is something that is more than common nowadays, but that wasn’t the case back in the days. We don’t have to mention what happened in the 2000’s since that is something that you already know, for sure. All in all, it is only a matter of time when something new is going to become popular in this world of video games.
